    This declaration is excellent and timely. Our goal as mathematicians is not merely to obtain "results": it is to broaden and deepen human understanding of mathematics. As in other domains like health, education, and the legal system, AI use must be transparent and should not undermine humans' responsibility to be truthful, open, and ethical.

    AI is unfortunately here to stay, but it must be as a tool to help scientists, not replace them and their values. If the current situation continues unreagulated, greedy corporations will wring the life out of the scientific community to dispose of us when there is no more money to be made, and the institutions that are already cutting research funding are making the problem worse. Following the recommendations on the declaration is a huge step in the right direction and we must keep putting pressure on the ones in power.

    Just a thought: the problem of peer-reviewed publication is not the medium; in fact, PDF is pretty terrible for communicating mathematics in comparison to many alternatives. The problem instead is the fact that there is no way to confirm that what is written in a blog post has been peer-reviewed. I urge us as the scientific community to remedy this: let's build reactive, accesibility-friendly, interactive webpages, and let's add a way to certify that those blog posts are correct via peer-review. We don't need journals for this, just good filters in our searches.
