    I am amazed at how the global mathematical community, a less vocal group up till now in history, has risen in solidarity to protect the ideals of knowledge that make us human. I believe in our collective strength and resilience in keeping mathematics and human thought that mathematics stands for alive.

    I strongly endorse the stated values of this declaration, and gladly sign in solidarity with them. I would even go further and ask us to reflect on the fact that whenever we digest and explain LLM-generated proofs to others in a public forum, we may be unwittingly giving away our labour in support of companies whose interests do not align with ours. Unfortunately, I see no easy way out of this, since as mathematicians we will always feel compelled to understand and explain arguments to other people, and the possibility of organizing a really effective “math strike” withholding our unpaid work on behalf of for-profit interests currently seems remote. I truly hope we can imagine a future in which everyone who wants to can do mathematics, and that the means to study and to do math will not end up under the control of a small class of rentiers.
